So let me start by saying that I am very proficient with auto parts and installation. I ordered these because my factory headlights were getting cloudy and had been resurfaced multiple times previously. I don't normally go for the aftermarket headlights because they rarely are an exact fit. These were no exception. Upon removing them from the box I noticed that they are absolutely not "OEM" because in my opinion OEM means they are an exact match to factory in form AND function. Well, they do not have the automatic adjustment mechanisms on them so you must adjust them to a level you hope will suit you and continue about your install. Have you ever thought someone's brights were on and after flashing yours they prove you so very wrong??? This can be caused by improper headlight alignment, most likely from high school kids who order parts for their civic out of some tuner magazine. Then came the install where I also noticed that they're not exactly the same size. In fact, they don't line up at all on the corners on the fenders. They stick out by a good 1/4 inch and seem to wobble even though the mounting bolts are tight. Being that I needed headlights immediately, I decided to take them for a spin. By the time I got to the end of the block I heard the rattle. Being that I didn't want to be mistaken for nor of those aforementioned high school kids, I decided that they would not work. Upon removing them I noticed that the high beam bulbs were a bit loose and not sealed right which could lead to a short or even a fire in the right conditions.Since real OEM ones are rather expensive, I started looking over them to see if I could fix them. The lens is an exact match other than one retention clip, so it must be the housing that is off by a little bit. So out comes the tool kit and the RTV for some old fashioned Texan engineering. I started pulling them apart, which is difficult if you don't know how to, and noticed that the sealant used is rigid and not bonded to the plastic. This would lead to those notorious moisture issues you get with aftermarket headlights. Once apart, I applied some fresh RTV, placed the new clear lenses on the factory housing, and secured the assembly using the factory hardware.Once on the truck, the new modified ones work perfect, look great, and the best part.... The auto adjustment system works ;) However, it is a lot of work getting a headlight apart and if you're unsure, I wouldn't recommend trying to modify them.
